The Victoria University Law Students’ Society (‘VULSS’) is the principal representative body of Victoria University Law Students. We represent your needs as Victoria University law students by providing numerous services and events that will enhance your legal education, assist and encourage you to pursue your career ambitions, offer you opportunities to participate in law-related competitions and basically ensure that you get the most out of your experience at Victoria Law School.

For $5 you will have access to all of our services and get VIP membership discounts to our events. At present we claim that we offer the most extensive breadth of services to our law students than any other society at Victoria University and so I urge you to take advantage of this as much as possible.

In 2007 and 2008, the VULSS hosted a broad range of events, including revision tutorials for those more challenging subjects, careers seminars and guides, academic competitions, and various social activities culminating in the much anticipated law ball. Participation in these activities have all contributed to the sense of community that pervades so much of what we do at Victoria Law School and it is this feeling of shared responsibility that sets us apart from the rest.

In 2009, you can expect significant improvements to existing services. In a nutshell, expect better communication between the VULSS and the student body, more information on upcoming events, improved and more efficient running of the VULSS, more social events and a more diverse approach to careers and exposure to the legal profession.

The VULSS is a member of the Victorian Council of Law Student Societies (‘VCLSS’) and holds the position of Treasurer for 2009. We are also a member of the Australian Law Students Association (‘ALSA’), where we attend the July conference each year. The aim of our affiliation with these bodies is to promote Victoria University law student’s interests at both a State and national level. The VULSS also meets regularly with other law students’ societies to compare and swap notes. In doing so, we can source new ideas and find out how we can improve our services to you.

Please keep an eye out for the various VULSS emails (don’t just delete them), our website at vulss.org.au, and posters displayed around the hallways of our fine law school. Again, I encourage you to keep up to date with what is happening around the law school as we wouldn’t want you to miss out on what could be a chance job opportunity or just making a new friend.

Make the most of your experience here by keeping an open mind and getting involved in as much as possible. If there is anything we can assist you with throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email, phone or simply pop in to the VULSS office on level 3 of the Queen Street campus.
